Anyone can learn the basics and can feel comfortable enough with their knowledge to trust herself. The first step is to pay attention to your surroundings. You should always know where you are going and how you are going to get there. If you find yourself in an area you aren’t sure of, you are more likely to become a victim. When you project self-doubt, you are more likely to be seen as an easy victim.

You should always trust your instincts. Self defense isn’t always about being able to fight back. It’s also about trusting your gut and knowing when to avoid certain situations. Many women learn to trust their instincts on so many matters of their life. They trust their instincts when it comes to their kids and their work. It shouldn’t be that hard to carry those instincts over to knowing when to defend yourself. One part of self defense is not putting yourself in situations that could be potentially dangerous.

As with anything else in life, the best way to project confidence and trusting your instincts is to get the facts. The more you know about anything the better off you are going to be. Self defense is the same way. Learn how to fight and protect yourself. The more you feel comfortable in being able to defend yourself the more confident you will be and the less likely you will be seen as a victim. One of the worst areas of training in the world of martial arts and self defense, is that involving the use and defense against firearms. It has been my experience that most of the self defense techniques being taught are unrealistic, dangerous, and lack any sense of big-picture strategy which could put the defender in even more danger. If you want to develop a sense of mastery in using firearms for self defense, you must make sure that you are training in the four critical skill areas you may need in the real world.

Let me ask you a question. Actually, I’m going to ask a series of questions. And, while I’m talking about firearms training in this article, I would suggest that you take these questions to heart in any and all areas of your self defense training. My questions are simple, but extremely important to your skill development and mastery. If you’re ever attacked…

1) How will you be attacked?
2) Where will you be?
3) Will you be armed or unarmed?
4) If you are armed, what if you can’t get your weapon out before he has his on you?

Do you see a pattern here?

You won’t know the answers to these questions until you’re face-to-face with your aggressor. But, since you know that any of these things is a possibility that you may have to handle, you must make sure that your training covers each of them.

Keeping that in mind, we can see that there are four general areas of training that should be a part of a solid and effective gun training curriculum. They are:

1) Weapon familiarization. This area includes proper grip, quick and efficient reloading (under fire!), instinct shooting (without sights), and more. In addition, knowing how to operate more than just your own favorite weapon is essential. You may find yourself with your attacker’s weapon during the course of an attack and need to know whether or not the safety is engaged or not, how to check to see if the weapon is loaded, and more.

2) Shooting skills. This is where most people focus when training. But, if you are not training to shoot – and hit your target consistently – under the effects of stress, then you are not training for defensive combat! Can you maintain a four inch shot group at a range of 21 feet or less? Can you effectively neutralize the 3 types of recoil? These questions, and others, are important factors to whether you’ll be effective with your shooting skills, or you’ll be doing what I affectionately refer to as “spraying and praying!”

3) Firearm retention. Are you prepared for the possibility of the opponent attempting to take your weapon away from you? How about an accomplice grabbing your weapon when you are trying to control, who you thought was your only threat? I routinely have students in my own courses who are ***** shots – even those who have trained with top, international, special forces and police groups – who have “never” considered this area of skill development!

4) Weapon disarms. This is the flip-side if retention. But, you need to avoid the idea of limiting this training to situations where he is armed and you are not. Remember – merely carrying a firearm does not make you safe or invulnerable to incoming fire! What if he pulls a gun on you before you can go for yours? How do you draw your weapon in the middle of your defensive action, instead of before it begins?

Self defense is all about strategies, tactics, and techniques – not just techniques. Whether we’re talking about defensive use of firearms, other weapons, or unarmed self defense – the way you think about the problem will determine in large part, how you will prepare yourself for it.

A head lock is one of the most intimidating and most excruciating ways to be attacked. The attacker can apply enough force to quickly render a victim unconscious or break the neck. One needs to be able to escape a head lock very quickly. In this article we will discuss two self defense techniques to escape from a head lock.

Martial arts practitioners learn to escape a variety of holds and grabs. Oftentimes the more force that is applied to a technique the higher degree of success. Speed of implementation of the technique is also required. The longer an attacker is able to be in control the more a victim can be injured. Once released the victim should counter attack or flee.

One martial arts self-defense technique involves just the fingers. If the headlock is applied with the attacker’s right arm, the victim can raise their left arm up the back of the attacker until the face is located. Place two fingers under the assailant’s nose and pull back forcefully. There is a pressure point directly under the nose that when pulled in this way can cause intense pain. An alternative is to drive the fingers into the aggressor’s eyes.

Most headlocks leave the defender on one side of the attacker. A second martial arts self defense technique is to step in front of the attacker and strike them in any of the vulnerable parts of the body. Punches should be aimed at the solar plexus, diaphragm or groin. Foot kicks and knee kicks should be aimed at the legs, shins or knees of the assailant. The victim can use the heel of their foot to stomp the top of the attacker’s foot.

The law is often relaxed in cases where the victim falls under the prey of the assailant and has no other alternatives than to harm the assailant to any extent possible for the sake of his/her life.

2. Self defense is applicable to all human beings. In cases where they need to protect themselves or their belonging from physical harm, they are free to apply defensive measures on the subject. These defensive measures are classified in the books of law. For example, a person who fall a victim of a vocal threat has no right to kill the opponent. It is only in the case where the assailant tries to harm the victim physically to the extent of death, such practice is lawfully justified.

3. The self defense should be applied correctly and only under extreme situations. A person who is not an assailant, but is harmed thinking of one is a crime by the victim. The victim should be well aware that assaulting physically is a crime and so if it is being done considering a self defensive measure; it should be applied to the person who deserves the same i.e. the assailant. A victim is always an upper hand when law is considered, but a person who proves that he/she was not the assailant, but was harmed by the victim could turn the law against the victim. It is so, that the victim should be detect the assailant and take the necessary steps to prevent him from harming him/her.

Self defense should be used for the right cause. This would help the victim to get justice from the law point of view.

There is a certain pride in knowing that one can defend themselves against an invasive attack or physical assault.

The art of women’s self-defense teaches women to use the abilities given to them by Mother Nature. Women are naturally stronger in the lower body and must not be afraid to use their legs when defending their person. The women’s self-defense course will teach the female to kick or stomp on their attacker and when all else fails, run. Building up the leg muscles for defense will tone and slenderize the thigh and give definition to the calves and ankle areas.

However, that does not mean that one can neglect their upper body. The courses taught to learn the skills of women’s self-defense, also encourage the possible victim to flee from possible attack. The newly skilled woman many now discover that they would like to participate in some sort of cardiovascular enterprise to enable themselves to be confident of the ability to escape from a potentially harmful situation. Because the woman took the initiative to become involved in learning the skills of women’s self-defense, they may now discover that they have lost those unwanted extra pounds and became healthier as well.

Women’s self-defense classes do not only teach the necessary skills to defend one’s self, they also give instruction for avoiding a potentially hazardous situation all together. The single woman who is having an early dinner with friends may believe her parking spot is ideal because it secluded and her new car will not be damaged. Do you live in a jungle or a city? They can be much the same thing! The streets of big cities are often described as jungles. It would be surprising if endangered citizens could not pick up some success, survival and self protection tips from jungle survivors.

Crocodile Dundee, the film hero who survived crocodile and gang attacks in the Australian outback, also managed to survive in style in New York! Dundee’s character is based on the true story of Rod Ansell who survived for seven weeks in the Australian outback after his small boat overturned.

He lost his supplies and equipment but accepted the tough situation without whingeing. He had to show ingenuity and will power to survive. Eventually he was rescued by bushmen.

You may ask what survival has to do with success. The answer is clear. No one can succeed if they are dead, eaten alive or battered into a coma. To succeed you may have to face up to death and violent assaults. You may have to confront reality and be able to look for answers without giving up. It also helps if you can stay healthy and fit.

Bear Grylls, the survival expert, was dropped recently into the Lower Zambesi river below the Victoria falls from a helicopter in the rainy season. Ten foot waves came at him. He dived into them almost head butting them into submission to avoid being battered by them.

In a self-defense situation, it is often wiser to move in and attack the attacker. If you dodge around trying to avoid his attacks without counter attacking immediately, you will probably end by being beaten up or killed.

The famous saying that the best form of defense is attack makes good sense. Attack and you may well succeed in surviving and making a success of the life you have saved. Make your attacker worry about being hurt rather than allowing him to take his time hurting you.

Don’t shy away from problems. Spend time facing up to them one by one and finding solutions. Tackle them head on with confidence, patience and even aggression. Stay with one problem until it is solved.

Once on dry land, Bear came across leopard tracks. Leopards will kill anything from dung beetles to humans. Bear found the remains of an impala which had probably been killed by a leopard. Leopards eat in the morning and evening and leave what is left.

Bear ate some of the meat raw: “This would be safer cooked but this is not the time or place to light a fire.” The hyenas would soon arrive to eat up all the remains. Every scrap of the impala would be gone by next morning.

The self-defense lesson is obvious. Don’t hang around in an area where dangerous creatures are likely to be close. The best form of self-defense is not to be there. Eat your food raw or leave it and get out of Dodge.

Defending yourself and others in the event of a fire is a fairly simple procedure. Most areas in the US require residences, either single family houses, or multi family, apartments, condos, townhouses, etc. to have, at the very least, battery operated smoke alarms. If you do not have smoke alarms within your residence, purchase and install one. They are quite inexpensive and could save your life. Just make sure to install them properly and replace the batteries at least once a year. An easy way to remember when to change the batteries is when you change your clocks from standard time to daylight savings time and vice versa.

Many times you will move into a property where the smoke alarms are installed in the center of the room. While this may be alright for the living room or kitchen it is improper for bedrooms. Bedrooms should have the smoke alarm installed on the ceiling just inside the bedroom door.

The reason for this is smoke from a fire rises due to the heat produced by the fire. When the smoke reaches the bedroom, the first place it will travel is under the door frame. Then it will rise to the ceiling. If the smoke detector is located on the ceiling just inside the door the smoke will trigger the detector immediately. This will give you more time to react. If the detector is located in the center of the room, smoke will need to fill more of the room to have the detector triggered. This will give you less time to react. You could, as well, be overcome with smoke before the detector even goes off.

If your bedrooms are upstairs, purchase some type of fire ladder for each room and store it near a window. Know how the ladder functions and practice using it with everyone in the residence. There is never enough time in an emergency, in this case a fire, to learn how the ladder operates. Preparation is the key to self defense and survival.

The attacks by United States and Israeli forces were repelled by counter attacks by Palestine and Afghan people.

If every person of the nation is always ready to fight against its enemies then it will be difficult for any other nation to begin a war. The self defense is all about peace and patience. Stronger nations like Israel or others always try to kill the innocent people of Palestine. If both Israel and Palestine are stronger then there will be lesser chances of fights or wars.
